ACTION on the ISSUES:

“It is my strong belief that a good legislator is someone who hasn’t just given lip service to the issues facing our state, but has been in the trenches working to move our state forward.”         – Bryce Bennett

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Bryce has worked for years for organizations that made sure that elected officials in Helena and Washington D.C. know that they work for the people back home.  He will not forget who sent him to Helena and who he has the honor of serving.

Everything he does in Helena will be transparent to the people back home and he will eagerly reply to all questions and concerns that are sent to his office.

CONSERVATION:

Bryce worked on the campaign to stop an out-of-state company from lifting Montana’s cyanide leach mining ban which had already poisoned multiple streams and creeks in Montana.  If passed, new mines were to be built that would have threatened the Blackfoot River.

Bryce is endorsed by Montana Conservation Voters.

He knows that natural resources have for centuries been the legacy of our state.  Clean rivers and open spaces create the quality of life that brings jobs to our state.  He will work to address the urgent threat of global warming.  Bryce will continue to protect our outdoor heritage for future generations of Montanans.

EDUCATION:

Bryce organized hundreds of students to testify to the Montana legislature in support of putting more money into Montana’s higher education system and will continue to be an advocate for our schools as a legislator.

Education is the engine for promoting sustainable communities and a robust Montana economy. As your legislator, Bryce will work tirelessly to support the University of Montana and its College of Technology to expand their role in jump starting job creation through workforce development and cutting edge innovation.  He will work to invest needed funds into our K-12 classrooms to make sure Montana students have the tools they need to be successful in on day one.

Bryce knows that teachers spend tireless hours working to give young Montanans the skills they need to succeed in our modern economy.   He strongly believes that our teachers should be paid a living wage.

ENERGY:

In 2009 Bryce had the opportunity to work for the Federal Relations, Energy, and Telecommunication Committee which discusses the future of Montana’s energy policy.  Bryce saw up close the energy issues facing our state and the potential we have to be a leader in clean, green, renewable energy.

Bryce believes that investing in clean renewable energy is the key to a sustainable and prosperous future in Montana. As your legislator Bryce will advocate to develop these sources of energy as a strategy to create jobs and advance this environmentally sustainable and low-cost source of energy.

CIVIL RIGHTS:

Bryce has worked as an organizer for the NO on CI-96 (marriage as one man and one woman) and to pass Missoula’s non-discrimination ordinance in Missoula.

He believes strongly that all Montanans deserve the same legal protections under the law.

JOBS:

Talking with neighbors door-to-door Bryce has had the chance to hear directly about the issues that affect our district. At the forefront is the state of our economy.  Due to our constitutional guarantee of a balanced budget we have been able to stave off the worst of this recession but we are still being hit hard with everyone knowing someone who has lost their job.

Bryce believes in three important steps to move our state forward:  Schools, Energy, and Environment

Education will be driving force to ensure that Montana students have the skills at hand to be leaders in our current global economy.   Bryce knows that a highly educated work force will attract new businesses to our state that work in information technologies.  Education will also play a role in giving out-of-work Montanans new skills to jump into employment opportunities going forward.

Montana has an untapped potential to be a national leader in clean, green renewable energy.   Montanans have so much potential to harness the wind, sun, and develop bio-fuels but we currently stand behind other states with less potential.  Bryce believes that we must invest now in green jobs and the companies that will bring them to Montana.  Green energy takes us away from our dependence on foreign oil and creates jobs that will be in our state for generations.

As a fifth generation Montanan Bryce knows that Montana’s beauty and quality of life has attracted business to our state .  By preserving our environment for the enjoyment of future generations we continue to hold that extra incentive to bring jobs to Montana.

CHOICE:

Bryce has been a volunteer in the past for pro-choice organizations and is endorsed by NARAL Pro-Choice Montana PAC as well as Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana.

Bryce strongly believes each woman should have full control of her body including the option of abortion.

He will work hard in the legislature to ensure that all  Montanan s have access to age appropriate sex education, birth control, and  care during pregnancy.

DRINKING & DRIVING:

Bryce worked as a student leader to ensure that the University of Montana continued to provide its late night shuttle to help prevent young people from drinking and driving and voted to expand the transportation program with an additional bus.  The UDASH bus continues to serve thousands of students every year.

Bryce likes to see Montana be a national leader in many things but DUI’s is certainly not one of them.  Bryce believes that we must work quickly with experts to find a new ways to stop drunk driving in our state through tougher penalties and rehabilitation programs.

Drinking and driving has claimed the lives of too many Montanans and must be dealt with in a new, more vigorous manner.
