Whether you are looking to create a home movie experience to entertain your children in the evenings, or you love nothing more than dissecting the latest Indie movie with the lads and a beer, creating your home movie theater is never a bad idea.
Continue reading to discover a step-by-step guide to designing your home movie theater.
Seating is Everything!
There is nothing more relaxing than immersing yourself in a movie, in the comfort and safety of your own home, and knowing that after the filming ends, there is no long journey back home and you have not spent a small fortune on popcorn.
To make that cinematic experience truly magical, comfortable seating is of paramount importance, and as such, why not make the most of the space and invest in a (or even several) ligne roset sofa bed Hampstead, which will ensure a stylish movie room aesthetic and give you options for guests to stay over.
Work Hard to Banish Ambient Lighting
Perhaps the most important area to focus upon when designing your new movie room is how much natural light is inside the room and whether artificial light from either outside or inside is affecting the space.
Essentially, the end goal here is to entirely eradicate all unwanted ambient lighting from the room, the most effective method being the investment into light-blocking shades and thick, floor-length curtains which overlap considerably.
Invest in a High-Quality A/V Rack
Your new A/V rack (Audio-Visual Component Rack) will act as the center mainframe for the entire cinema room and as such, make sure you avoid scrimping on the one you end up purchasing.
The A/V rack will control all sound and visual output and should be installed as near to an electrical outlet as possible, making sure not to place the rack on a GCFI outlet unless specifically told to by the supplier.
In addition, for safety’s sake, it is incredibly important to make sure that the A/V rack itself is well-ventilated and sturdy as well as large enough to support each electronic device.
Other necessary or indeed, advisable, investments to make for your new movie theater include the following:
- Black-out shades and blinds
- Soundproofing such as a second layer of dry walling
- A strong and high-quality sealant for cracks in the walls
- Ethernet source wire for an unbroken and reliable internet connections
- A 55-inch screen for the average ‘small bedroom’ sized space
Install Flexible Lighting Options
Once you have done everything you can to banish any ambient lighting from the space, it is time to rethink the current fixtures and fittings in the room and instead look to introducing flexible lighting options.
No reputable home movie theater would be complete without adding dimmer switches, rope lights, soffits and recessed lights. When installing, go to great lengths to ensure the lighting is mainly behind the seats, rather than by the side or front. The aim is to have a dimly lit space, light enough that you can see each other, but not so light that the focus is taken away from the film. You should also make sure that the lighting set up doesn’t create glare on the screen.
